The collaboration was announced at the Oman Fire, Safety and Security Expo (OFSEC) where Canon also launched nine new network cameras which are ideal for both indoor and outdoor environments, including retail, city surveillance and critical infrastructure monitoring. The cameras are the first infrared (IR) based fixed box cameras featuring a 2.4x zoom lens and an ultra-wide 113.4º angle of view for high quality imaging day or night. Alongside cameras, Canon Middle East also unveiled the new end to end solutions using Milestone and Nedap Video Management Software.

According to a recent research by G4S, the Middle East has evolved to be the most vibrant safety and security market in the world. The rapid pace of economic and infrastructural development has caused the market to achieve a growth rate of over 10 % annually, since 2012. In Oman, there is a great demand for security equipment, ranging across diverse sectors but particularly from the government, hospitality and retail sectors.

“Given the importance of ensuring security and safeguarding people, property and assets, entities such as government departments, hotels and resorts and retail outlets increasingly rely on robust surveillance systems as part of their overall security strategy. Identifying this need, Canon Middle East has partnered with Mohsin Haider Darwish to provide powerful network cameras such as the Fixed Box Network Cameras which have ultra-wide lenses and built-in IR LED that enables filming in zero light conditions as well as Smart Shade feature which brightens dark areas in the images captured.

The partnership with MHD heralds the beginning of a new chapter for Canon in Oman and we look forward to using their expertise and reach to further enhance Oman’s reputation as a safe and secure place to conduct business, visit and live,”

said Hendrik Verbrugghe, Marketing Director, Canon Middle East, commenting on the occasion.

The Canon cameras are designed to maximize flexibility for end-users and are integrated with more than 40 of the top video management softwares (VMS), significantly enhancing Canon’s software capabilities.

“The new cameras offer longer zoom range to deliver improved identification and superb lowlight performance, whilst the latest outdoor additions feature vandal resistance certification, ensuring that users can rely on the cameras operating in all conditions,”
