Transguard security guards honoured at Transguard Carnival for bravely tackling hotel fire

Security guards in Dubai have been recognised for their bravery at Transguard carnival in the wake of a hotel fire that broke out last month.

The five security guards evacuated the building, aiding efforts to halt the spread of the fire, before the Dubai Civil Defence battled the flames.

The security guards – Salah Uddin, Jowel Rana Morshed Miah and Litton Chandra Mondel from Bangladesh and Uday Bahadur Gurung and Amrit Pandey from Nepal – received a cash bonus, an extra return flight home, plane ticket home, seven days’ extra holiday pay and a trophy to celebrate the occasion at the Transguard Carnival in the wake of the hotel fire.

Steven Beesley, Chief Operating Officer, said: “Thanks to our extensive training in fire safety the team are well versed in what to do when in this kind of emergency. The safety of hotel patrons is paramount. We are all extremely proud to have played a part in securing the safety of everyone and this just reinforces the need for robust first response fire safety training which Transguard provides to all its staff.”

Greg Ward, Managing Director, Transguard also went onto say that “The carnival is a celebration of the whole Transguard team who consistently perform well beyond the call of duty.”

Thousands of staff enjoyed a packed day of fun and sport during the annual Transguard Carnival, which is organised in recognition of the hard work by employees into making 2017 another successful year for the company.

Transguard employees had the opportunity to enjoy giant inflatable rides, a mechanical rodeo bull and a range of carnival style stalls.

All staff enjoyed lunch and were entertained by a DJ, Bollywood dancers, an African drum show, as well Transguard’s staff showing off their very own musical and dance skills on stage.
