Breaking: New IS video calls for attacks in France
A man with a knife attacked three French military personnel on an anti-terror patrol near a Jewish community centre in southern France today (Tuesday), officials said. Two of the military personnel were wounded in the assault in the resort city of Nice and the attacker has been arrested.
The attack happened as IS released their latest video on line in 2 versions. One over 14 minutes long and the other just over 4 minutes where a balaclava wearing man with a Arab/Parisian accent calls for all 4 million Muslims in France to rise up and get their weapons. Soon after their release You Tube removed them.
The dialogue, all in French, is apart of a very professionally produced video and includes footage from the recent attacks on the Charlie Hebdo offices in Paris and reaction from the French President condemning the attacks. It goes on to say that those without weapons should attack police stations to steal them and for those who cant get weapons they should use knives, swords or stones.
After the Charlie Hebdo attacks The Union des Organisations Islamiques de France, which represents more than 250 Muslim organisations across the country, condemned the killings. Tariq Ramadan, a leading Muslim thinker, commented in the Guardian Newspaper: “It is not the prophet who was avenged, it is our religion, our values and Islamic principles that have been betrayed and tainted.”
This latest call form IS is a probable attempt to distract their supporters both internally and across the globe from their recent military defeats in Kobane and the Northern Iraq oil fields around Kirkuk.
